What is the optimum screen resolution for Access?
It is recommended that your computer resolution be set to 800x600 or higher. For PC's, this can easily be done by minimizing all open windows on your desktop, then in an open area of your desktop, click with the right mouse button and go to "Properties". In the small window that opens, there are several Tabs. Select the right-most tab, "Settings", and where you see "Screen Area", you can change the size by sliding the pointer bar to the right ("more"). As you move this bar, the new screen resolution will display. The Color level should be set for 16 bit resolution or higher. Click "OK" and the system will display the following message: "Windows will now resize your desktop. This could take a few seconds, during which your screen might flicker. If Windows does not reappear correctly, wait 15 seconds, and your original setting will be restored." Click "OK" to this message. Close the Display Properties window by clicking on the "OK" button. Remember, this new resolution, once set, will be permanent until you change it. MAC platforms should also set their resolution to at least 800x600.
What is the best browser to use with Access?
Access is best viewed in Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, or Netscape 7.0 or higher. AOL users may receive errors when logging onto Access, so we recommend that AOL users use their existing AOL connection, minimize the AOL browser and use either the Internet Explorer or Netscape browser to access the Internet. Web TV is not supported at this time.
What platform (computer) is best?
Any Intel-Pentium platform should perform satisfactorily with a 233mhz or better processor speed. The Access program does not take additional memory beyond what is required for your web browser. MACs should be using OS 9+.
What if I get an IP Address error?
Access requires a match between the IP Address of your browser/PC and the browser/PC that originally requested the web page. Some ISPs route browser traffic through Proxy Servers. Each Proxy Server has a different IP Address and if your request flows through different servers in the same Access session, the IP Address mis-match will cause an error message. When this happens, the only thing you can do is close your current Access session, log onto Access again and try working through that session. How do I enable popups for Access?
Please refer to the "Troubleshoot Popups Page".
Still having trouble after putting in the correct login information? If this is the case, your popup blocker might be interfering with Access. The most common indicator of popup blocker interference is a blank window. Go to our Troubleshoot Popups page to fix the problem.
